It’s another ATP Tour win for Jamie Murray and partner Bruno Soares in Washington at the Citi Open yesterday. They saw off their opponents, Mike Bryan and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, 3-6 6-3, 10-4.

It was a nervous start from the pair who were struggling to make their mark on the match going down a set and having to save break points early in the second set. However, in the fourth game they saved two consecutive break points and then went on to claim their first break of the match. From there on, Murray and Soares dominated as they took the match to a deciding tie-break and made life comfortable for themselves, racing into a 5-1 lead. From there they took the match, and title, 10-4.

“It feels great to lift a trophy,” said Murray. “A great week for us obviously. We played a lot of great tennis with some challenging moments. Especially after losing the first set here in the final, but we played better today on returns and made some important balls. Our first serve percentage went up and we kept fighting.”

It is Murray’s second title of the year and his first ever in Washington and sees his good form continue after reaching the final of the mixed doubles in Wimbledon. Murray now owns 21 tour-level doubles trophies. He and Soares are 26-12 in 2018, and are solidly in seventh position in the ATP Doubles Race For London.
