It was the perfect build up to Wimbledon for Yifan Xu with her doubles partner Gabriela Dabrowski. They defeated the Romanian duo of Irina-Camelia & Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-3, 7-5 in the final of Eastbourne to claim the title on Saturday (30/06/2018).
They went into the tournament seeded fourth and emerged triumphant which will give them great confidence for the weeks coming as they go into Wimbledon seeded 6th. It is the second title Xu and Dabrowski have won this year after winning in Sydney at the start of the year and their fourth overall. However, it is Xu’s first title on grass.
Having not made it past the first round of Wimbledon in the past, Xu will be hoping she and her partner can carry their good form into the tournament and better their previous best run in a Grand Slam together when they reached the Quarter-Finals at the Australian Open.
