It was another outstanding two weeks for Jamie Murray as he retained his Mixed Doubles trophy at the US Open with partner Mattek-Sands. They won the final in the most dramatic of circumstances beating Nikola Mektic and Alicja Rosolska 2-6, 6-3, 11-9.

Murray, who lifted the trophy with Martina Hingis last year, and Mattek-Sands trailed 1-4 in the final Tie-break before converting their fourth championship point to lift the trophy.

It is Murray’s fourth mixed doubles Grand Slam title and sixth overall, with two men’s doubles successes alongside Bruno Soares at the 2016 Australian Open and US Open.

“I have got a good talent for picking the best partner,” Murray said.

“I have had an amazing two weeks. Things went against us and we had to fight hard to get back into the match.”

Not content with celebrating his own achievement, Murray then led the crowd in singing happy birthday to his mother Judy who was watching in his support box.
