Dunlop has announced Qiang Wang, China’s number one women’s tennis player, as its newest Dunlop Tour Team player. The 27-year-old, who progressed to the last 16 of the Indian Wells Masters yesterday, has signed a multi-year equipment deal with Dunlop.

Backed by fanatical support in China, Qiang recently reached a career-high WTA ranking of 18 following a strong start to 2019. She has two WTA titles to her name and arguably her most notable win to date was a huge upset at the 2018 French Open when she defeated Venus Williams in the first round.

Qiang will use the Dunlop CX 200 racket on the WTA Tour.

“I’m excited to be signing with Dunlop at a significant time in my career,” said Qiang. “There have been so many different Grand Slam winners in the last two years which shows the huge opportunity for players in the women’s game. Ensuring you’re using the equipment that’s best suited for your game is vital and working with Dunlop will help to maximise my performance and further progress my career.”

“We’re delighted to add Qiang to our impressive portfolio of Dunlop Tour Team players,” added Masahiro Asahino, Head of Racket Sports for SRI. “2019 will be a significant year for her to establish herself near the top of the women’s game and we’re looking forward to working with her. She has a huge fanbase in China and we hope to help support her ambitions of challenging for major titles.”
