Ali Farag beat Simon Rösner 3-1 in the final of the Swedish Open.

Seeded number 1 for the tournament, Farag didn’t disappoint. He comfortably dispatched number 5 seed James Willstrop and number 3 seed Paul Coll on route to the final. He then took that form into the final against the number 4 seed Simon Rösner, completing the victory in 51 minutes.

Farag said “Today, after losing the second game I got some great words from Tarek (Momen) so I have to thank him, and my wife and family back home, for their support. Because without a full team behind me, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

His last title success came at the US Open when he famously won the championship on the same day that his wife, Nour El Tayeb, claimed the women’s title in the same event. Now at a career-high world number 2, Farag is consistently reaching the latter stages of tournaments and was one of the first tour players to confirm their spot at the World Series Finals in Dubai.
